Despite the statement from Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that
the State Assembly would defeat the Telangana resolution, the Centre is
hell bent on going ahead with the Telangana process.
According former Pradesh Congress Committee president and senior
Congress MLC, the Centre would only send draft Telangana Bill to the
state assembly for its opinion and there would be no voting on the same
in the Assembly.
“Only a draft bill on Telangana would be placed in the Assembly and
not the resolution on Telangana. And there is no way it can be defeated
because there would be no voting on it,” he said.
Stating that the Centre would not go back on the division of the
State under any circumstances, Srinivas said the Group of Ministers
(GoM) set up by the Centre to look into the problems of the Seemandhra
region on account of division of the State would show satisfactory
solutions to their problems.
Assuring the Centre would grant huge special package to the
Seemandhra region to establish a new capital for it, Srinivas said the
Group of Ministers would elicit opinion of the people on the problems
after division of the State.
