If the reports from New Delhi are to be believed, the top leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party seems to be more interested in joining hands with YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy than Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
Naidu had been on indefinite fast in the national capital for the last six days, but he has failed to the BJP to come to his support.
Despite his recent handshake with BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, party chief Rajnath Singh and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, no one from the party came to support his five day ‘deeksha’. BJP sources were clear that they could not afford to be seen supporting a fast which was clearly an anti-Telengana stir.
However, Rajnath Singh gave a lot of time Jagan’s mother and YSRC honorary president Y S Vijayamma, despite the fact that her party is dead against Telangana.
Vijayamma had appealed to him to reconsider the BJP’s stand on Telangana. And it was only after her meeting that Rajnath Singh started talking about “equal justice” to Telangana and Seemandhra.
Obviously, the BJP prefers to rope Jagan into the NDA, because his party can contribute more MPs to the NDA kitty. For that, it is even willing to dump Telangana!
